A recent study conducted by EY estimates the number of Americans employed by each business entity type, and breaks down these figures at the Congressional district level.
The data show that pass-through businesses (S corporations, partnerships, and sole proprietorships) employ 62 percent of the American workforce, while private companies (pass-through businesses plus privately-held C corporations) employ over 80 percent of workers.
